Open source NLE Kdenlive has just reached version 0.9.4 thanks to the hard work of the open community of developers.
The release comes with a ton of bug fixes as well as some new features including improved clip markers and support for multiple stream clips. One of the most interesting features, however, is the newly developed clip analysis. This allows for better motion tracking of clips as well as automatic scene detection. Take a look at the full release page for more info.
If you’re not familiar with Kdenlive it’s an open source alternative to professional editing systems such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro.
If you’re on Linux, it’s definitely worth a try.
